Empowering Smallholder Farmers: The Out-Grower Scheme

At Village Farms Limited, we are committed to building strong, mutually beneficial partnerships with smallholder and medium-scale farmers. Our Out-Grower Scheme is designed to foster long-term relationships that not only provide a sustainable market for farmers’ products but also offer vital support to enhance their farming practices.

Through this scheme, Village Farms ensures that our partner farmers have access to a readily available market, giving them the confidence to expand and invest in their agricultural ventures. We don’t just stop at purchasing their coffee—we go the extra mile by offering value-added services that make a real difference in their success.

These services include extension services, where our experts work closely with farmers to improve farming techniques and increase crop yields. Additionally, we offer input loans to support the cultivation process. These loans currently cover essentials like coffee seedlings, fertilizers, and chemicals for non-organic farms, ensuring that farmers have what they need to produce high-quality crops.

By participating in our Out-Grower Scheme, farmers gain the stability of a consistent market and the resources to elevate their farming practices. Together, we’re not just growing coffee—we’re growing communities, fostering economic development, and creating a brighter future for smallholder farmers in Malawi.

Livestock Production

Livestock Production

At Village Farms, we are committed to sustainable and holistic farming practices that benefit both our community and the environment. Our dairy cattle are raised with care on our farm in Phwechi, providing fresh, high-quality milk to a growing customer base in and around Mzuzu City.

But our interest in livestock goes beyond milk production. We are also focused on integrating livestock into our broader farming ecosystem. The manure from our cattle plays a crucial role in enriching the soil in our coffee fields, promoting healthy, vibrant crops.

Looking to the future, we are excited to expand our livestock operations. Plans are underway to reintroduce pigs and goats to our farm, further diversifying our agricultural activities and enhancing our ability to produce organic fertilizers that support our commitment to sustainable farming.

At Village Farms, livestock production is more than just raising animals—it’s about nurturing the land, supporting the local economy, and delivering fresh, natural products to our community.

Macadamia Production

Macadamia Production

At Village Farms, we’re proud to be at the forefront of macadamia seedling production in Malawi. Our innovative collaboration with Mr. Justin Panja, a visionary local farmer, has enabled us to scale up our operations and make a significant impact on the agricultural landscape.

Through this partnership, we’ve established a thriving project centered on the growing of mother bushes, which serve as the foundation for grafting our high-quality macadamia seedlings. These efforts have allowed us to supply over 20,000 macadamia trees to smallholder farmers across the country, empowering them to improve their livelihoods and contribute to the nation’s agricultural success.

Our reach doesn’t stop there. Thanks to our robust distribution network, we have the capacity to deliver seedlings to all major cities and towns in Malawi, ensuring that no one misses out on the opportunity to grow these valuable trees.

If you’re interested in purchasing macadamia seedlings, they are available at an affordable price of MK2,500 per seedling. To place your order, feel free to contact Mr. Justin Panja directly at 0999 712 259 or 0884 241 017, or simply use our Contact Us page for more details.
